    Hey,

Yesterday I got my hands on a 2011 surly pugsley – scratching a long term itch!  And first flat bar bike I’ve ridden for about 4 or 5 years.

The seller had two available – one medium, one large – but didn’t tell me this until I’d test ridden the medium and found it to be too small.   Then test rode the large which felt a lot better so i took that one.

On taking it for a wee run today I find it to the pretty compact in the cockpit.  It’s already got a 100mm stem and the seat fully back – starting to get more comfortable.

Current handlebar is 660mm wide.  I was thinking of going wider – maybe ritchey kyote at 800mm – but I’m concerned that with a long stem this will feel a bit unwealdy.

Given the extra width of the bar how much shorter a stem could I run do you think before it starts to feel compact again?

I might just convert it to drop bars… 🤔 they are best after all 🙃
