I’m just looking at a simple cheap keyboard so I can throw stuff into GRageband add a bit of extra sounds like the Minimoog and then record my guitar into it. Stage one is a keyboard that will easily connect. I have a USB Lightning adapter already. Anyone got any advice?

I had an iRig keyboard that was good.

The Arturia KeyStep is excellent. It can be powered through the Lightning adaptor and has a great build in sequencer & arp. It also has tonnes of midi & CV connectivity to work with hardware synths/modular.

I use a M-Audio Keystation Mini 32 for exactly what you’re describing. No frills but it has velocity sensitive keys and connects onto the iPad USB adapter fine. I’m no keyboard player, but it works well for me for what I do.

I presume you can connect a USB midi cable to an iPad? Pretty much any keyboard will have midi output. I guess it depends if you want a stand-alone keyboard as well as something to use with GarageBand.
