To use with 700x25-27 tyres and wheel.
Is it a bad idea? Is the geometry going to be too odd for it?
Should I stick to road bike frame?
Cheers

Onone with a rigid fork will do the job.

Well it will certainly not be a on-one that is for sure.

flat bars and bar ends work really well as they give a bit of extra reach, ime, if you're not needing to have the brakes available at a split seconds notice...

I think it'd work but not sure about mudguard clearance.

If you can get the mtb frame cheap/free and are on a budget then it's worth a go.

So its a 29er with road tyres on ? It will work fine the gearing will be lower because of the smaller tyres though.Or is it 35% off a 26er frame to get rid of them ?

It's basically 35% off any 😉 But it will be a 26 probably as road bike wheels fit just fine

It can be great fun mixing and matching bikes, this is my Specialized Crosstrail that I've rebuilt for commuting with rigid forks, road wheels, road transmission and full length mudguards

It will also happily take a 29'er tire front and rear if I remove the mudguards!

It works really well. I know you don't want an on-one but here's my inbred 26 with 29er wheels and 700x32 tyres. There's room for full guards too if you want.
