Hang on hang on… someone is going to complain to the police about something they saw on a TV cops fly-on-the-wall documentary??

Seems a bit like calling the cops after Crimewatch to report a burglary..

Surely the usual etiquette is to whinge about it on the web?

Is there a back story to this or is it someone that the OP saw on the road?

Motorway cops, BBC1 monday night and repeated on BBC3 and iplayer.

Basicly 2 cops in an unmarked car pass a hired LGV, owned by Burnt treee vehicle hire, driver was noted by co driver copper to be holding a mobile phone in his hand while driving down some motorway.

Cops decide to pull the driver over for a word of advice, one cop a bit more adjitated than the other,(attention seeking), have a word with driver who they find out has 9 points on licence, and also a previous ban from driving, he then pulls out a sob story about marital breakdown, not seeing his kid etc etc, and that he was looking at a picture of his child, (not porn, facebook, or utube as is probably usual) cops agree with him and let him off with a written caution, so he is allowed to drive off at 56mph, driving a hired vehicle, working for a comapny transporting valuable stock for a customer.

OTHER JOBS ARE AVAILABLE FOR BANNED TRUCK DRIVERS.

It probably happened about three years ago as well.

I think they took a slightly more pragmatic view, that he already had 9 points, and if it went to court with his current situation he would escape a ban, so therefore a formal caution, and if caught again that would then be ban as this would be brought up.

I personally was in favour of gving him a court appearance, but depending on the magistrate/liberal do-gooder who sits he drives away when he should walk.
