    Hi all,

After smearing myself all over the tarmac on my commute to work, I’m looking for a new “do it all”  helmet.

I quite fancy a specialized one as I know they tend to fit my head, but I’m concerned that the high level peaks/visors on these helmets would get in the way of the beam from a helmet light, casting shadows into the field of view.

    Any experiences?

    Cheers

It’s going to depend on your riding position, isn’t it and the angle/height it sits your head at and how far ahead you’re looking? I like the Exposure helmet mount for versatility and adjustability.

I guess the simple solution would be to go peakless at night though or buy a commuter helmet that doesn’t have an elevated peak and save your modish ‘modern’ lid for mountain biking?

Would mounting the light on the side, rather than the top of the helmet work?

+1 for dedicated night-riding helmet, mine is an older Urge All-M lid I think.

Keep the mount on there all the time.

I’d buy any other helmet that doesn’t have the peak so high that it doesn’t actually keep the sun out of your eyes.
