Ok, Mrs B’s rear Mavic hub needed some tlc. Ive had to buy the id360 tool (****) but it seems that Mavic use a particular grease in the freewheel mechanism.
Do i need the mavic stuff, or is there something i can substitute?
    Thanks

It’s got to be semi fluid so it doesn’t gum up the pawls. AFAIK it didn’t have to be branded

For older Mavic hubs I just use Shimano mineral oil.

What’s the tool for? I didn’t need a tool to remove the freehub.

    Edit. Ignore me, googled it!

I know that some people have had success using angled needle nosed pliers, but no luck for me. So i had to stump up for the Mavic tool.
Im guessing a trip to the Mavic service centre or LBS would have cost me more….
