As per the title after many years happy use my payment ring is going to stop working in a few weeks.

I very much like always having a discreet payment method on me that doesn’t rely on batteries or phone signal so I’m keen to replace it with something similar.

Any suggestions, must be UK friendly and ideally with a decent, easy way to top it up.

I’m interested in this too – but I haven’t found anything quite as easy to replace it with.  Tapster keeps coming up on my social media feed but you need to have a ‘special’ account with Curve to run it, rather than just topping it up from your existing bank.

Not a ring wearer, but I use my Garmin watch. Needed to setup a curve card as they have limited providers in the UK. But that was free and easy.

Don’t know if that’s an option for the OP.

there’s nothing “special” about curve, it’s just a free intermediary between your bank (which doesn’t cooperate with rings and watches) and your ring or watch (which needs a a card which will cooperate).

if you prefer to have to top up, or want to manage the balance available on your watch/ring I guess it’s inferior.  but if you just want a seamless connection to your account, no topping up required, as if your bank cooperated in the first place, it’s works and it’s simple.

Ringpay needed an app to manage it but once you’d gone through the faff of setting that up it was pretty seamless and the only time you used it was to check your balance and to log in every now and again when you hit your spend limit (which was a smidge annoying but I suppose it limited just how much coke and hookers a thief could get through before it automatically stopped them).

From what I can gather most of the other rings out there require both a Curve Account and an App for the ring itself. The more links in the chain the more faff and the more vulnerable you are to getting hacked etc so I was hoping to avoid this if possible.

If I’m being a ninny and it’s actual all pretty painless then feel free to tel me so, I just don’t want to have to end up dealing wit a rubbish, annoying app., have enough of those in my life already.

Any existing Tapster users on here?
