MegaSack DRAW - This year's winner is user - rgwb
We will be in touch
I thinking of jacking in my current ISP, they have been integrated thru takeover into the TalkTalk empire, and service and performance has just reached total crap levels.
I will merge Broadband provision onto my BT tel contract, and then look for a separate provider than can give me some web hosting space. I only use to host a blog and other personnel stuff and a simple joomla site for my daughter, so no great space needed or monthly bandwith.
Any recommendations on a separate hosting provider, preferably Linux based

£5 a month

Have used pipeten in the past and they've been pretty good
Thanks Trickdisco, Pipe10 looks reasonable, Dreamhost is US and I rather support the UK!!
I have also had some pointers on
http://webhosting.uk.com and http://www.krystal.co.uk
Also cpanel looks useful, not seen before, is a provider using this interface worthwhile???
I use one.com They seem OK so far. On-line, webchat support was good when I needed it.
I use http://www.justhost.com/ very good provider for about $6pm good support and lots of options for sites.
I've used Aegis Hosting for the last few years. Very happy with the service.

I find it really useful

Been with them a few years, small UK firm you even get to deal with the same person more than once.
30GBP / year basic, control panel (good for trying stuff out and ftping at work) and for auto joomla wizard.
Can have multiple sql databases, addon multiple domains, subdomains etc. They even do a 10GBP a year single website deal.
4UHosting seems pretty good from my limited experience, about £ 36 per year. We've got www.pmba.org.uk (Pennine Lancs MTB site) hosted with them. Considering I was a website newbie when it was set up I've found using their online interface pretty easy and there seems to be loads of other functionnality to use as I develop my web skills.
Another for Aegis hosting - about £42 a year for loads of space and options...very good service as well.
I've got 4 sites with them and all 4 have been very good.
