do the large bikes cost the same as the smaller ones?
    This is a regular question.

Not that unreasonable is it? Given the price of raw materials these days. Surely there would be a bit of difference between an XS and an XL in terms of raw material costs?

Depending on what the frame’s made of, probably about a fiver at most.

All the components fitted are the same size* no matter what the frame size is.

*OK, I know that a few manufacturers these days fit size specific bars, grips, etc, but that type of service should cost more, not less.

regarding cost vs size, I used to work for a building fixings form that made expansion bolts in various sizes. The small ones cost more to make than the large ones as the machining was more complex but the rate card was inverted, the smaller ones were cheaper to the customer, because that’s what the market expected.

You quite often see that with pricing for milling bits and the like – small and big ones are more expensive than medium-sized ones because of the machining costs (and probably quantities).

Did you know that sardines get cheaper the more you buy? Sardines cost less by volume than the oil they come in – that’s why they’re packed in so tightly…

I thought they’d been bred especially to tessellate 😉

A lady and her friend looking at female specific hard tails in my LBS genuinely asked if once they purchased the first bike (£700) they would get the second one free…

Well my wedding ring was more expensive in my size than the same ring in smaller sizes.

Was it hollow on the inside? 😯
