Think I may try one as I have long arms and a bit cramped on the bike, will it help? Anyone have one? Any thoughts?

You need to bear in mind that most standard postposts have a degree of setback anyway.Indeed very few have zero layback. The Thomson layback posts look as though they put you back further over the chainstays but it is in fact a bit of an illusion due to the fact the layback is in the post rather than at the saddle cradle.

The amount of layback on Thomson is only 16mm,so if the bike is really off for reach it won`t make much of a difference.

You might need to think about a longer stem or a bigger bike…..

I went through this with my first “real” mountain bike. On the advice of the shop, I bought a small, rode it for a while then started to feel too cramped. I tried the layback Thomson and also tried a longer stem. It was still to small.

Eventually, I just gave in and bought a different bike.

shame, you might have been young enough back then to have simply stood up and enjoy the more playful handling characteristics of the smaller size 😉

“back then”? It was only 6-7 years ago, so I was already over the hill!
