Kids Knee Pads – Buying in Morzine/Les Gets

We are off to Morzine next month for a family holiday. There will be a small amount of riding the trails involved (company we are staying with gives free rentals). Mostly greens and maybe a blue or two for my wife and 7 year old daughter.

I would like to get her some knee pads, but size and fit need to be checked. I could do the usual thing of buying a few pairs and returning what doesnt fit, but its a bit of a faff.

The other option i am considering is trying to get her some whilst out there. At least that way she can try for size and comfort. My only concern is if there will be many options out there?

I have been numerous times, but dont often go into the bike shops, and when i do its more to look at the bikes, so i am not sure if they stock kids protection. Can anyone advise? I suspect its a captive market, so prices might be high, but i am ok with that.

Or would it be a safer bet to get her something before we leave?

Do you live anywhere near a Decathlon? That’s where we bought our kiddy size pads and they’re great. I wouldn’t count on finding any in Morzine and if you did they’d be RRP = resort tax.

Do the hire bikes not come with helmets and pads?  Most hire bikes in Morzine include that – hence why you’ll see a lot of folk cutting about in very basic heavy duty pads and helmets.

Star Ski normally have a good range of Fox kit – that’s where I got myself some new elbow pads a couple of trips back.  They were the same as UK bike shop prices.

100% get yourself to a Decathlon in the UK if you can.

I’d fully expect to get absolutely renamed for something like that ‘in resort’ as it were.

Have a look at adult elbow pads too. They’re frequently a good fit for children’s knees and often cheaper – plus you can use them on your elbows.

There’s often a few on FB or gumtree local to us. Worth a look/try?

I will look up where my nearest Decathalon is and pay them a visit.

I didnt think about facebook market place etc, so thats a good shout.

I understand pads in Morzine would be at a premium, but thats a price i would be happy to pay for the opportunity to try them on etc. But hopefully the two above options may work!
