My lads eight and just got him on a specialised 13″ hardtail (26″), built it up with my spare parts etc, you should be able to get one on ebay or a new one last years model if you can find any stock.

Personal question, but how tall is he? My little girl is almost 4’6″ and was wondering when a full sized (26″) bike would be appropriate.

Antimony he is 4ft 5″, put 150mm cranks on and a 30T upfront, with an 11-36 cassette, the wheels, saddle off my old scott hardtail, looking at a sub 11kg bike. He loves it and even helped me build it up ( well kind of ) beats buying and isla bike every time
