completed first time and got the dancy Vordermann. Fairly easy apart from the equation solving which you could nearly always do by working out if x should be odd or even, or just by the relative size of the options given rather than actually solving it.
it’s made my eyes hurt though.
Maths so lost its way when it ran out of numbers and muscled its way into the letters game IMO.
Tom_W1987, I’m not having that sigh dude… last time I looked at maths seriously was 25 years ago. Then, it was all Venn diagrams and shit, my teachers urging me to bother with them because “they come in useful in real life” Hah!
So, 25 years in a maths-less environment and I’m still Level 8.
Save your sighs for the number 92. That’s a cracker.
Awesome. Now get back to me when you’ve done an OU degree in mathematics.
Which is actually almost the story of my life. I was bad at maths at school (I was placed in the bottom set). Later on in life it turned out that I can do advanced mathematics with ease and a related subject has become my career path.
I was never bad at maths, just never all that interested… and it’s a fundamental truth of modern life that a calculator will do most simple maths problems faster than I can and without wilting under pressure.
Still, got there in the end. Think I’ll celebrate with a venn diagram or two.
Work placement kid here (doing engineering) just completed the whole thing on his first go.
He is due back at Cambridge in 3 weeks though, to finish the final year of his course.
I fell at level 6.
Maths get’s more interesting when you get beyond doing arithmetic using a basic scientific calculator Camo.
That was probably your problem at school, it probably wasn’t challenging enough.
Could be…
My Maths teacher was a sarky sod who delighted in our incomprehension and/or total lack of interest.
My most visceral response to his Venn obsession was something like…
I wouldn’t mind knowing more, but the problem with moving on in the old maths game is that you lot ^^^^^ (you know who you are) keep putting letters where numbers should be and get all uppity when a numptie asks a question. Shame on you. Shame.
