Is the spesh Levo still the go to? And when is the new one expected?

Its looking like an ebike purchase is looming…. looking to go full power as its for laps in the evening, weekend rides will still be on the pedaler.
I see lots of people on Levo’s and overall don’t think I spoken to anyone who has had an issue with them which is very different from most other ebike brands. So before I dive into a world in desktop research are there any other bikes I should be looking at? I know the new Levo can’t be far away but Spesh have put up the 2025 bikes on their site and its the same again…. so maybe not as close as I’d hope
escrsFree MemberIf i remember correctly
Gen 1 Levo came out in July 2015, Gen 2 September 2018 and Gen 3 March 2021
So thats a 3 year cycle which means we should of seen a Gen 4 this year but obviously that’s looks like its not happening this year so most likely 2025
Get yourself on https://www.emtbforums.com/forums/specialized.4/ and have a read up of the Levo and other brands
Ive had a Gen 1 Levo, Gen 1 Kenevo and still have my Gen 2 Levo, all three bikes had their motors relaced under warranty, the Gen 2 was upgraded to the 2.2 motor that’s fitted to the Gen 3 Levo and its been faultless in the 3 years since being fitted
Spesh have been having lots of sales lately, think its more down to being overstocked and people not buying 6k to 13k e-mtbs rather than them clearing out ready for the Gen 4
Personally i think this will be my last Spesh, the warranty is good but other brands have caught up with the Levo
Once the Gen 4 is finaly released ill decide then but will be wanting a frame, motor, battery and wiring only for a personal build
z1ppyFull MemberIt’s a great bike, the motor is still the most natural feeling system, has a big battery*, and variable geo as standard, but there’s lots of other bikes that have been released since 2021/2, so it’s may not be the latest and greatest in everyone’s eyes (& there always lot of Spesch haters around). It is a solid bike that’s sold by the boat load, with lots of internet rumours about a new model, but as you say the 2024 line up has been put up. The issue is that Spesch dumped the normal new bike/end of year release, by releasing a carbon version of the new (current) bike alongside selling there old model in March 2021, so anything could happen. I’d expect, the full fat Kenovo should be due an update first… or at the same time?
As for issues, I’d love to say there aren’t any, but motors still fail, much like bosch/shimano/yamaha system. Unlike many of those, Spesch’s support is second to none & the motor is full rebuildable once out of warranty.
*my experience is that Bosch motor seem more efficient, if your looking for that.
jediFull MemberSeriously, look at giant. Their trance e bike is the lightest full power ebike out there
4VanHalenFull Member^^ Seriously, look at the press on giants warrenty claims 😉 with an eeb you are likely to need it too.
just pick the eeb you like with a local good dealership. all the motors fail eventually and its a case of picking the easiest/most convenient warrenty option.
i`d have a specialized if i could have afforded one (as the local sells them). Luckily the local shop is also on good terms with Madison so my shimano motor replacement was ok.
anderzzFree MemberReally happy with my levo but it seems a lot of the cheaper sale stock has been cleared out by now. I got my base levo carbon for £3600 and with a few upgrades it’s amazing.
I think the comp alloy would be a good purchase if price was right (they went down to £3800 end of last year)
1sazmtbFree MemberMe neither quite the opposite……one post from a forum member whom otherwise doesn’t post anything and all of a sudden his take on the incident was taken as gospel and all of a sudden giant should be avoided and that now comes up on everything related to giant
chestrockwellFull MemberDid you miss the post the other day where they were less than helpful with a potentially cracked frame?
hopefiendboyFull MemberThe thing is with the Giant warranty- the last time I looked they’ve embedded in the warranty terms and conditions clauses that mean they can get out of just about anything if it has not been shop serviced. That combined with the internet stuff means it would be a no from me for a Giant.
Which is a shame, as they make some cracking bikes

I see what you did there… and I like it.
Big no to giant from me stick to spesh if you’re going with the big brands.
highpeakriderFree MemberI like my Whyte E160 for the Peak District, comes with 12 speed which you don’t need , mines now running on 10 speed which gets me up all the hills.
SuperScale20Free MemberI was not aware the Spesh was ever the go to for Ebikes, I would start with a bike with Bosch Motor.

Mmm, but what happens once you’ve taken it for its first ride and the battery is flat…. are you actually allowed to recharge it at home without invalidating the warranty?

The post in question is from a long-standing forum member who has posted loads over the years – so yes I take what he says as gospel. But even if I didn’t he posted the chat with customer services corroborating his ‘take’.
yoshimiFull MemberIncredible bike IMO
Had one 1.5years and love it. Admittedly its currently being looked at for warranty, but I did buy it down south and with the Global warranty I was able to take it to my local Leisure Lakes to get sorted.
Once you get used to the weight, which doesn’t take long it just does everything you could ask of it and I personally find the riding position spot on (as I have with my previous Stumpjumpers).
From big days out doing things like Ullock Pike to laps at Dyfi bike park – handles everything, well!
EDIT- For balance, a friend has a Giant Reign ebike – had a few motor issues but he’s found Giant warranty to be very good/helpful
oikeithFull MemberI’m very close to pulling the trigger on a Levo too, I have swung legs over bikes with Bosch and Shimano motors and didnt like how they felt.
Hand in hand with the warranty for me is that the stores locally who sell them are good stores to deal with in general. I think one of them actually carries a stock of Spesh bits and once a warranty claim is approved and the parts used, Spesh sends more to replenish the stock, I like this as weeks without the bike can suck and always occurs when its nice!
1iaincFull MemberI dropped a post onto the Orbea thread yesterday. My Levo SL needed a new motor last summer, a few months out of warranty. Local Spesh Dealer was great and it had a new motor fitted within a few days, and Specialized did a deal with a discount of around 40% on the motor.
