IRD dropper alternatives

Last front mech / gearing related Question from me i promise…..
Anyone used anything other than an IRD front mech dropper for sub compact chainsets ? Wickwerx etc – or the bikingreen ones on ebay …
Id buy an IRD no question but stock appears to be an issue – the wickwerx is much less substantial and im not sure ill be able to drop far enough – need to go from 46 outer as designed to a 40 or 38
any experiance ?
