Inner tube alternatives

I’ve a rat-bike I use for nipping around town, I don’t use it too often and inevitably when I do get it out of the garage it needs its tyres pumped up.

Is there a tube that doesn’t gradually leak, or an alternative to tubes, to keep them up and ready to use?  I’m not “overly” worried about weight, I just want the bike ready to use when I need it.

Would something like this do what I want?  (not that I especially want to set it up as tubeless, which also leaks air over time)

Wow, quick response!  Thanks, I’d not heard of those – they sound just like what I’m looking for.

Schwalbe tubes hold air better than a lot of the others as each tube is tested before being packaged.

The name is different (old ones were called Portal) so they may have addressed the issues, but..

Maybe some Marathon Plus with heavy weight tubes will do the job? You could always try adding a bit of sealant to your tube too..

I’ve used airless tyres, they’re awful. The compliance of vulcanized rubber riveted to wooden rims with the rolling resistance of a fat bike in porridge.

I now just use Marathon Plus’ and cheap decathon tubes, they still never puncture, and actually feel like tyres (albeit still the heaviest, draggiest slicks you’ve ever known).
