About 27 years of car ownership…

    Mini 1275GT
Fiesta 1300 (This fell apart and I didn’t have a car for a year or so)
Cavalier (brilliant car, did over 210k and never went wrong)
    Astra
    Astra
    Hyundai Coupe
A3 (my wife has this now)
    Honda Accord

I’m not including a number of motorbikes or cars my wife has owned.

edit: reading this actually makes me a little sad. I’ve never owned a daft car not because I couldn’t afford one but because I’ve played it safe. My next car (and this is considering that I rarely drive a car nowadays – I go most places by bike), needs to be extremely silly. Recommendations would be useful 😉

1st car: Mk2 Golf Ryder – stolen on holiday in Cornwall while I was sleeping nearby. Police found it burnt out in a field. “Was there a lot of stuff in the car? There’s a lot more debris than we usually find.”

    Yes. Yes there was.

    Gap.

Between 1989 and 1995 I also had two further Alfa 1600 Juniors as second vehicles, one 1973, the other 1976

Best car? At the time the de-badged Jetta 16v was a fantastic Q car- no body realised what it was
The Alfas were lovely dainty things if a bit high maintenance
The Citroen BX 16v was very quick and had the best brakes of any car I have owned but so unreliable- only car I had to trailer home after breaking down on the way from picking up from previous owner.
My current Audi is the car I have kept the longest- it has the best blend of comfort, pace and economy
