Staying at Skiddaw House YHA over the next few days.

The easy route would be to walk up from threkeld or from latrigg around Lonscale fell

But if the weather is up to it I’m thinking of going over Skiddaw.

Been up it loads of times so I know it’s an easy walk, big hill excepted.

9yr old (generally quite fit, bit reluctant sometimes) in tow.

I make it about 4.5 km to the summit from the latrigg carpark. 650m climb. About 3.5m back down sale how to Skiddaw house.

How long do you reckon, so long as conditions are reasonable, allowing for a few stops?

I’m guessing 5 hrs. Probably a bit less.

Tell me I’m wrong please 😀

Assuming fair weather, I would guess 2.5 hours up and 1.5 to 2 down.

It’ll be windy. Don’t forget to show your 9tr old how the wind is officially measured in the lakes. Through the Max and Paddy flapometers…
