    isn’t there a standard licensing agency? Such as the one that kicks up a fuss if you have a radio at work?

    PRS – that covers broadcast etc.

    If you want to use it in an advert/film/etc you needs specific permission from the owner of the track to cover that use.

    Not cheap though. We wanted to use ‘ready to go’ by republica for a conference video we were producing but it was going to cost around £15k. And then you have the issue of trying to contact the individual band members who own the track. That was 7 years ago though so maybe the process is simpler now.
