Hi,
I killed my rear nova tec hub this winter. I tired fixing it but had mangled it beyond repair. After 4 years that seemed a reasonable run for an xc hub that had spent some time in bike parks.
Why is my free hub making loud bangs?
I bought a pro5 in the wiggle fire sale and built it up on the old rims yesterday.
The pickup is noticeably faster than the novatec hub and the hope pro4 on my hardtail.
I made a couple of tricky moves on the climbs today, possibly because it was easier to crank up the fiddly bits.
It sounds significantly less obnoxious than the pro 4.
It was super quiet and just did it’s thing.
So hope pro5, better at being a hub than expected.
The wheel build was easy. I’m not sure if that was the carbon rim or if the hub was particularly easy to build with. While I’ve been truing wheels reguarly since 1997 I’ve only built 5 or so from scratch
