    Hi,

Not the most interesting question but….

Just building a cheap bike to tow a kids trailor and I’m fitting a hope pro 2 evo hub. The frame is 135 quick release. The current hub is set up with a bolt through 142×12 Axle.

Can I just add the quick release end caps or do I have to put a new axle in designed for a quick release 9mm skewer?

I’ve just added the end caps whilst I’ve built it. It’s been such a long time since I had a qr rear I can’t remember. I suspect I do which is a pain as I gave them all away thinking I’d never have a qr again. 😂

    Thanks

just the end caps should do it, I recently did the opposite conversion.

This is a key difference between the pro2 and pro2Evo.

The axle tube of the pro2evo will take 12mm out of the box and any size up to that with simple endcap adaptors.

The axle tube of the Pro2 will only take QR out of the box and while it will accept axles up to 12mm, requires the axle tube to be swapped in addition to end caps.  The pro2 also has a poor reliability reputation when run as 12mm.
