Having a bit of an issue setting my rear brake up not to rub. Pistons can be fully retracted and are lubed etc. No matter how much aligning I do, I cant’t seem to sort them. It’s much worse with 2/3 to 3/4 pads, I can get them going much better with new pads.

So I took my cheap Aldi digital calipers to the rotor and it’s down to 1.2mm ish thick, Hope recommend that minimum thickness is 1.5mm for a 183mm rotor. The rotor is nearly 8k kilometres (5 on the front, 3 on the rear) old ridden through all conditions in the Peak, Lakes, Cannock etc. so it’s had a pretty hard life!

So could the very worn rotor, along with worn pads be causing my issue?

    Well yeah, I suppose!

Im guessing the thin disc and thin pads combine to allow the piston too far out of its bore where it can rock and get stuck?

That’s sort of what I’m thinking, hopefully a new rotor sorts it. It could just be that I’m useless at setting them up!
