Ive come to fit a XTR 970 front mech Ive had in an old parts drawer and the clamp thread seems to be missing. Rather than being part of the actual clamp it looks like the clamp had a insert which included the thread. Ive looked online but cannot find it anywhere. Any ideas on where to get the insert?? Help – new bike build waiting

look on shimano tech docs for a part number and search for that?

Go to your LBS – they’ll probably have a box of dead mechs you can raid for spares. Or, just use an M6 (IIRC) nut.

Njee – tried 2 bike shops no luck (looks like XTR are the only ones made like that??) and the nut doesn’t work unless I get a longer bolt – guess that’s an option
