  • Help finding a decent 36h 29er rim?

    As title.

I’m trying to find a decent-width 29″ MTB rim in 36h to build up my Alfine hub. I’ve found plenty of 32h rims but the only 36h one (at sub £40) I can find is the Mavic TN719 disc rim.

Is that rim any good? Or, any alternative suggestions?

I usually ride on (26″) XN321 rims and this TN719 is a bit narrower than I’m used to…

    Cheers

P.S. I had been trying for a Bonty Duster rim via Sam @ Singular but they’re 32h only 🙁

Stans flow’s come in 36 hole.

    They’re more than £40 though.

Cheers, but they seem to come in around the £80 mark 😯 . I can’t justify spending that much on a **** rim though!

The TN719’s not a bad rim.

The Mrs has them on her singlespeed. They’ve stayed straight with no dents in em, easy to tubeless too.

Just that the Flow’s that bit wider and so much betterer. 😉

Oh just a thought. Try kris holm rims. Wide and not mega expensive. Not light though.

Kris Holm probably too heavy at 795g unfortuantely. If it was a normal hub I’d maybe consdier one but with the extra weight of the Alfine I’m trying to stick to a reasonable rim weight.

Think I’ll probably go for a TN719 then.

Try the tandem/touring specialist like St John Street cycles, 36 hole is pretty standard for touring/tandems
