  • Headset compressor adjuster for carbon steerer?

Hi folks, and apologies for the road content!

Just been trying to change the bars and stem on my road bike but can no longer get the headset to tighten up – the original compressor adjuster is just pulling up in the steerer tube when I try and get it tightened.

Can anyone recommend me a decent replacement that will work in an approximately 22mm internal diameter carbon steerer? Are the serrated / diamond patterned ones ok or do they damage the steerer?

Loads of options on CRC etc. but any advice welcome, especially re sizing. Want to get the bike working again now that I’m stuck halfway through the job!

    Cheers, Andy.

Ahh, – yes, the M:Part one highlighted in the last thread does the job for me very nicely…

or use a bar all the way through the steerer with a top can on each end. Set the headset then remove.
