Has anyone successfully claimed for hail damage to car bodywork? Dents aren’t too deep but are noticeable.

It’s made a bit more complicated by the fact that it happened in France. Got ambushed by it as we came out of a tunnel heading back to Thonon from Chatel today.

Are they claiming it was an act of god so wont pay out?

Yep, similar, trip climbing around the mont blanc massif and got hit by some big ass hail.

Every panel looked like the surface of a golf ball.

Car was written off. Felt very bad as it was a friends car we had borrowed.

You should be OK as long as you have comprehensive cover. It’s just weather. You might want to check your policy to see when to notify insurers, usually straight away, but you probably don’t want to get it fixed until you get home.

Sneaky hail

We went in the tunnel as it started raining. As we came out the hail started, car in front stopped and the van behind blocked me in so I just had to sit in it.

I’ll ring them tomorrow, got comprehensive cover so hopefully they should cover it.

You should be fine. Normal fix is to close all windows and blow really hard up the tailpipe – hopefully all the dents just pop out. Good luck.

There are quite a few specialist companys using paintless dent removal google is likely to turn up a local one may be cheaper than an insurance claim in the long run. I am an insurance assessor and would always go down this route if dealing with a claim for principals.

A Pistonheads search can be useful for finding your local dent popping guru. I know the Glasgow one now, but doubt that’s if much use.

I can quite happily confirm that there were some bad hail storms today in the PdS area. Fortunately we were parked undercover at the time. I really felt for the poor sod walking (running) past with his very irate pooch.
