Will this work? Will I die? I see that the SRAM site lists 42T as the maximum capacity for the 11 speed GX mech. I’d like a lower gear but have an HG driver so looking at the Sunrace 46T cassette. If the GX mech won’t do it what are folk using to get the low gears on 11 speed with the larger cassettes?

I had 11 speed NX and replaced the cassette with a 46t Sunrace without problems.Sold it later to a friend running a 11 speed SLX mech and it also worked well for him.

This video is a Rival 11s mech with a 50t sunrace and seems to work, so 46 on GX should be fine.

Yes, it works.. I’ve just done exactly the same thing this week. You will need to adjust the b-screw accordingly and may need a longer chain (I did).

I ran an XX1 on a Hope 10-48 cassette no bother.
