I’m off to ride the King Alfreds way at the weekend and so have downloaded the GPX route and put it on Garmin connect for me to use with GPS device. However on the GPX route the start and finish are in Winchester and we are starting and finishing in Reading, so I thought i’d edit the route to move the start and finish to Reading, and this is proving problematic.

Whenever I move the start point it automatically adds an additional route with the shortest route back to the finish, and if I move the finish point it gets even worse with routes all over the place!

Is there an easy way with a circular route to just move start and finish points with out messing up the entire route? Or am I worrying about nothing and just trust the Garmin device to find the route no matter where we start from?

    Thanks.

just load the route as is, and when you start riding it gives you option to ‘navigate to start of route’, select no, and ride as per your plan and when you come onto the route it starts navigating.

The CUK site has it downloadable as 9 separate stages, just start with the last section first, unless you were intending to smash it out in one non-stop ride.

The only problem if you don’t start a route at the beginning is the distance to end and elevation remaining gets messed up.

GPX Studio might let you move the start / end but I’ve never tried.
