All Bar One on St Vincent Street

I appreciate the tip ta, but I’m not a fan of these corporate chain pubs. Each to their own though. We obviously like different places.

Still can’t believe they shut the halt

Shutting the halt is just part and parcel of changing times but the fact they were then allowed to gut it… That was unbelievable.

Not many left like that. I loved it in there. As a fixie skidder with friends djing it was quite a big part of my Glasgow life.

Sorry to hear about the halt closing, used to go a lot in the 80s but since I have only been there once in the last 30 years I may be part of the problem.

I think the issue was more to do with changing neighboirhood.

From memory a few gigs had to be binned. They had some grief from neighbours etc rather than lack of customers. WEST gutted it and made it soulless and it didn’t last long from memory by that time i had moved the Edinburgh.

The absolute best bit about Glasgow. The hands down most hilarious thing a council has done… Is nothing to do with the cone.

Its renaming a street. Thus changing Apartheid Southafricas consulate address…. St Georges Place… to…. Nelson Mandela Place.

If I met him in real life I’m sure I’d buy him a pint. People just don’t always come across at their best on Internet forums. Me included.

    @kennyp
hope you have a deep wallet, I think the door staff add a few quid to the cost (if the prices in the Solid are anything to go by). Different places right enough, tbh I’d say the Doublet would be a fair shout then wander to Chilli’s or Mother India for scran.

I’m just a grumpy shite on here. Well, not exclusively, but not as bad in real life. Apologies.

Still had bouncers in Opium though.

I can also recommend Pizza Crolla. Had a few late night dishes from there over the years.

Not my top choice but anythings better than a Blue Lagoon. Gads.

I was a barman at Babbity Bowsters back in the olden pirate landlord days. I haven’t hd the heart to go past since it was sold. Can someone confirm if its gone down the shitter?

Our paths might we’ll have crossed, it was my favorite Glasgow pub when I lived there. No desire to go back now it’s part of a group. Probably nice enough to look at and totally devoid of character.

And I got a bit wound up too I admit. For what it’s worth I genuinely wasn’t doing Glasgow down. Pubs with bouncers (anywhere) just aren’t my thing, but I also admit that Glasgow is my favourite place anywhere for live music; amazing atmosphere. I’m old enough to have seen AC/DC play the Apollo.

but anythings better than a Blue Lagoon. Gads.

Finally something we can both agree on!!
