Yeah, if you think it’s related to an update, I suggest you delete any activities and anything else which may be consuming memory and then do a factory reset. You’ve got nothing to lose

I’ve literally just had the exact opposite really positive experience. About two weeks ago, I went to start an activity on my Fenix 6 only to find that the start /stop button was missing. It had just somehow fallen out of the watch. I messaged support to ask about a repair and after a bit of back and forth including me sending a pic, they said they would replace it under warranty (even though it was 9 months over the 2 years). They emailed me a shipping label and I posted it back. After just under a week of it being tracked as received I’d not heard anything so started a chat to chase it up. The chat person replied to say that they had no stock of the Fenix 6 but they could offer me a Fenix 7 solar sapphire at no extra cost. I obviously said yes thank you very much and it just arrived this afternoon. I’m not sure if I just got very lucky or what but I couldn’t fault them?

Absolutely factory reset (if you haven’t already).  I’ve had a couple of Garmin devices start to misbehave and the factory reset fixed them.  As vlad_the_invader says above, you have nothing to lose

Yes don’t worry I’m technical for a job so I’d already tried a factory reset, then did the same and erased all data. Pressed both buttons for a minute, tried different chargers, plugged into computer, sync’d with Garmin express, tried updating using that. Turned off all wrist based sensors and restarted, tried installing software through GarminIQ to see if that could trigger anything but sadly not.

It’s on software version 8.3 and it seems lots have had issues with this and getting to 8.4, seemingly it’s 8.4 that wants to install but just can’t. I’d be happy to try update it manually myself or rollback the firmware or even root into it and try trigger something but they’re pretty locked down.
