Just stripped my SunRingle freehub as a bearing had seized and wondered what type of grease to put back on the freehub pawls? I guess something quite light, any recommendations please…

I use Fox Float Fluid in mine.

I’ve just used a very thin smear of normal light-ish all purpose grease in mine and have yet to die. I think as long as you don’t use enough to clag the pawls up it’ll be OK.

Sturmey Archer internal hub grease is ace for this.

People recommending oil – are you thinking of Shimano style? I am presuming this is Hope-style with cartridge bearings?

Cartridge bearings in the wheel and free hub. Just don’t want to clog up the pawls as mentioned above.

Liquid grease we use for chainsaw nose and clutch bearings has always struck me as a good halfway between oil and grease, but not tried it yet on the bike.

I use the blue mobil stuff Hope use for pretty much everything now. £10 for a big tube.

If you like the fluorescent yellow/green shimano stuff look up Motorex FETT 2000 as it looks very similar and is supposed to be very good.
