    It’s always been thus.

Is there any difference between the Forest tweet and Maureen blaming officials for his latest loss, or Fergie pointing at his watch?

There’s a significant difference between saying a ref is shit at their job, and implying that they are biased because of their own club allegiance.

Also a big difference between a manager moaning at a press conference, and the club sticking it out in black and white as an official communication.

Maybe they’d just watched the Inside Number 9 episode “ the Referee’s a…”

Looks like Liverpool are also after a bald Dutch bloke as their manager.

Need to go back to the 70’s when refs used go for a pint or 6 with the players. I expect VAR doesn’t drink though.

This Arsenal Chelsea game’s not too bad

When I read the headline ‘Slot a candidate for Liverpool manager role’ I thought I’m not a fan but murdering them before they’ve even started seems vindictive.

Two tricky top of the table clashes in PL and Championship tonight !

Arsenal haven’t done their goal difference much harm tonight.  A clean sheet and 5 to make it +56

Fair play to them. They’ve handed out some absolute shoeings this season

5 nil in both games, who’d have backed that

At least that answers the question as to what Chelsea would be like without Cole Palmer.

At the other end of the football league, Bradford have just nicked 3 points at barrow to take the play off place decider to the last game on Saturday.  Unbelievable Jeff 😂

I can’t believe how poor Jackson has been in the last 2 games.

Thanks for that. Forgot about that classic.

Well, seeing as my predictions on Sunday were so depressingly accurate, I reckon we’re going to plunge to new lows and lose at home to Sheffield tonight, 2-1 or 3-1 after scoring first

Think I might stick a few quid on it this time, to make it a bit more bearable

Odd how things have changed under VAR: Everton were just awarded a penalty, Allison booked but as it was deemed offside both were withdrawn.

In the stone age I doubt a penalty would’ve been awarded in the first place.

Brilliant! Not a bad evenings football.

Thankfully I lost my United bet (I may start betting against us all the time) but I had a Mrs B-esque feeling Everton would be well up for properly derailing Liverpools title challenge tonight, so I stuck a few quid on them at 9/1 😂

Great result for Everton – they should be safe now.

Dear god, Sturridge is an absolute clown! How the hell did he get a job as a pundit? He’s arguing with Rooney, thinking he knows better. Remind us Daniel.. what did you ever win?

Sturridge and Rooney – a real meeting of minds!

used to be 40 points had you safe, when did that change to 30?

united were behind twice, and only got in front with a penalty to a team with 16 points after 34 games

It’s the ETH way. Hopefully they win every game from now until the end of the season, bar the FA cup final, but put up a good fight, to show Chelsea Jim he’s worth keeping on.

Klopp really is out of steam isn’t he? Looks gone. Good on him for making the right call for himself.

Everything’s relative. Have you not watched us this season? This is just standard fare nowadays. We’re absolutely dire, but 3 points is 3 points, as TH will be clear to point out as he praises another ‘fantastic performance’ under his stewardship

When the even playing field became a very uneven playing field.

As above, the teams coming up now can only dream of getting into the 30s in terms of points, the EPL is getting more uneven every year, FFP is making it even bigger now.

Agreed. As a supporter of a non ‘big 6’ club, ETH’s unfathomable ability to get results, despite playing dire football and draining the confidence out of players, is a blessing. It should ensure that Stat Man Dave (Brailsford) keeps him on for next season. Although I wouldnt worry if they move for Southgate. In fact as an England fan….:)

As an Evertonian today is a good day! Enjoying my day of winding up the Liverpool fans in the office….only happens once a decade so they’re obliging me!

I got a phone call at 5pm last night asking if I wanted a ticket for the game….i hate Derby’s so turned it down….what a mistake that was!! I do have a ticket for Saturdays game so you can guarantee normal service will resume and Everton will get beat!

Looked like a tricky away fixture for City. Making light work of it though.

Citeh kicking into gear again and just doing what they do at this point in the season

    They’re a machine

    dander

I’d say they’ve had a bit of help from the ref. Dubious free kick for Foden’s goal and Brighton denied a clear pen. But I’m clutching at straws – they’re cruising and can go up a gear if needed.

Do they look better without Haaland?

The old Liverpool (80’s) team used to do what city do each season – look just above mediocre for 90% season and then just click into a 5th gear come March.

Judging by last nights substitutions, Pep isn’t going to aiming make up the goal difference on the gooners, I think city could have scored a few more last night, but he brought important players off instead to keep them fresher for the run in.

Cant believe that after tomorrow’s game, there will be 3 games difference between Villa and Spurs. Ridiculous at this stage of the season.

I’ve got tickets for the Villa v Chelsea game. Buzzing for it, can’t beat a big game under the lights at VP.

    A special place.

Villa will be fine. Spurs have Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, City (and Burnley and Sheff Utd) to play yet!

I’d just extend the trophy lease for another year at this point to Citeh.

I reckon Spurs will do us over at the weekend. Still think we are finishing 3rd.

Do they look better without Haaland?

Haaland has been missing chances he took for fun last season. Don’t know if he’s just a bit knackered, or teams have worked him out a bit.

I think most of the problem has been slightly fewer goalscorer options all round this season. If you don’t have Gundogan or Mahrez hovering around, it’s slightly easier to set up to defend against a single spearhead player. De Bruyne missing a large chunk of the season again made them both less creative and more reliant on Haaland. It has allowed Foden to develop, though.

Arsenal should be kicking themselves. They are, in my eyes, the team of the season, this is one they should have converted. Still time for City to drop a couple of points though.

You’re a glass half empty kinda guy eh? Arsenal have been great – so solid defensively, which always gives you a chance.
