Nowt really to add to the request, but the only thing that’s made our air fryer properly smoke (as in fill the house) was chicken (thighs, not wings) – the spitting fat hit the hot plate/element bit and belched out loads of smoke. On the odd occasion when we’ve done it since, we’ve put the air fryer outdoors.
I’ve tried a few different recipes / rubs and have found one that I really like for chicken thighs, skinless works well.
There’s definitely no issues with smoke in my air fryer.
If you want it spicy just double the amount of cayenne pepper. Not used it on chicken wings though. Ingredients are:
Mix all the ingredients together, dry the chicken first with paper towel, rub onto chicken and leave for at least an hour.
Place chicken thighs in air fryer and cook on 190 for 10 minutes, turn the chicken then cook for a further 8 or 9 minutes at 195.
You can try lightly spraying the coated chicken with oil before frying
I posted this recipe on the BBQ thread a while back.
You want the wings pretty dry as (being wings) they have a lot of fat in them that comes out during cooking. Any spice mix you use definitely needs some added flour
Probably a shared ancestor source. It’s not my recipe (because what maniac uses cups to measure flour?) and I’m damned if I know where that came from now, I’ve had it ages.
