I know it would be better to just buy a tapered fork but can it be done?

Obviously it’s just the bottom bearing that’s the issue – can you get reducer cups or equivalent?

Does it matter if the headtube is integrated?

hope do a reducer crown race.

it is meant to be used with their pick’n’mix headset, but all it actually does is make your 1 1/8″ fork look like a tapered fork, so you can use any headset that fits your frame.

You can for certain headset get crown races that will do the job. My C456 has a smoothie mixer with one that allows a 11/8th fork. As for internal, depends on the frame and which type its using

I had the same issue, used a cane-creek, you can buy the top and bottom parts separately (like the hope ones)
