Any recommendations of where to stay in F.o.D with youngsters (age 3). So taking the Little one on his bike will need a fire road.

    Forest of Dean that is.

This place might be OK. I live in Monmouth a few miles away so I’ve never stayed there, but I used to ride past it regularly. looks like it may be a decent place to stay.

Do they like steam trains? (Who doesn’t?!), if so then it might be worth looking at Parkend, last stop on the Dean Forest Railway. There’s Whitemead Forest holiday park there (never been myself, so don’t know what it’s like). Easy access to the family cycle trail and loads of fire roads. Also at least one AirBnB in the village if holiday parks ain’t your thing.

I used to go here for swimming when I lived nearby, but only heard good things about the complex as a whole. It’s owned by Civil Service Motoring Association (now called Boundless), so if you can find a tenuous link to get yourself membership you’ll probably get a nice discount too

We have stayed at Whitemead, it’s perfect for a family trip. Easy access to the family cycle network, it’s got a big pool for wet days. Really easy access to dowies etc for more grown up adventures.
