A friend has a RD-2300 rear derailleur and wants easier gearing. I looked up the specs via Google for this mech, and it states 26t max. Anyone know if there is any flexibility with this- 28? 30? or is there no chance. Cheers!

Aye, I’m yet to find a 28t 8 speed cassette. Spose I could replace the mech with an Alivio MTB mech too….

I used to have one, think it was a sora. They definitely exist.

You’d probably manage to fit a 28T largest cog at a push, as long as you’re careful setting it up.

Plenty of 11-28 8spd MTB cassettes exist, so shouldn’t be difficult finding one.

28t might be as far as you can go.
you mightt find that in certain combinations the top jockey wheel buzzes on the lowest sprocket with anything like a 30t
