I’ve switched back and forth a wee bit, looks like england are doing their usual and making a meal of trying to break a team down! really need to sort that out if ye’s plan on doing anything at this tourny.

Someone should really tell England this isn’t a testimonial.

Looks like Engerland are doing everything but hit the back of the net. However, I’ve bet in a draw, so expect to see things continue like this until Slovakia nick one in the 89th minute

I’ve put a stop to any chance of Slovakia catching us on the break by having a quick bet on them nicking it! 🙂

Wales just earned me £20, so can’t grumble.

Well at least second round for Engerland and Wales. 😛

Commentator keep saying ‘dire’.. Well, that’s how it should be spelt.

We’ve had nothing to shout about for 20 years now. Just an absolute crock of shit. They’ve gradually sucked the life out of football enjoyment. I’m at a point now where I don’t think I could even get excited if they managed to get to a final. That is the saddest thing I could say.

I must say I was only hoping for Wales to get out of the group.. never expected that!

Man Of The Match – Skrtl? 🙂

In fairness, wholesale changes or not, that was woeful. To have that level of dominance over 90 minutes and not win is shocking.

OK, we go through, and next round will be against a side that will try and play against us, which might suit us a bit better.

    Not impressed though.

😆 Watch out you might get salt poisoning if you watch too many matches … 😆

Wales is much more entertaining than EngerLand at the moment. 😛

After the World Cup I promised myself England football can naff off. But every tournament I just come back for more boring football.

    ITV commentary hilarious as usual.

So how are the scouse mafia going to convince the sheep (sorry English football fans) that England’s failure to score was Raheem Sterling’s fault?

awww man, I seem to have nodded off – what was the score ?

Roy Hodgson is convinced we’ve dominated 3 games, draw 2 win 1 isn’t domination where I come from

didnt even get to the second can.. I’m saving it for the next albania game 😉

Wilshire was poor. Clyne was great . No service to Vardy. Its not ok to play for second and thats what the England players did whether consciously or not.

My first post on this thread. England are shit and the manager seems to have alzeimehrs or dementia or even both. How can you forget the last 20 mins of the Wales game and start with that line up. I’m of no persuasion club wise so don’t slate individual players due to their team but by God kane is knackered, wilshire is shit, Henderson was I’m not sure, sturridge absent at times. The final third where that team is concerned doesn’t exist. Ex die hard England fan!

Not many clear cut chances given the total domination. Thought Lallana was unlucky to be taken off and Vardy was completely anonymous in the second half. Another penalty shoot out defeat to Portugal is gonna happen!

I feel sorry for Lalanananana. Consistently one of the best players on the pitch, and keeps getting subbed.

It is true that the format of the first phase allows weakish or struggling teams to play for third but even so, disappointing from England and Hodgson

England don’t have the skill or guile to walk it through a packed defence so if they’re going to sit back, England have to be direct and aggressive and not fartarse around. I hate long ball footy but every now & then it’s fair enough, mixed in with some more measured stuff.

Wilshire? – wouldn’t have taken him even if he was match-fit
Same for Sturridge IMO, goal or not last time

Ecstatic Welsh fan here – watched the Wales game at a mate’s with beer.
Great game – we could have won that 6-0 – no exaggeration. Not sure if we brilliant or Russia were utter shite or bit of both. Joe Allen and Ramsey were superb…Bale scored but tried to be the hero a bit too often.
Feel the complete opposite to what I did after the England game last week – gutting to lose so late even though you were the better team.
Roy was just on 5 Live – what sour grapes. Obviously a bit upset they didn’t win by saying something along the lines of there’s no prize for winning the group, only for winning the tournament. Technically correct but he knows (and everyone knows) England should have won that group unquestionably. Not really sure why they didn’t but you didn’t beat Russia or Slovakia (who he underestimated) – we beat both and lost to an injury time winner to England. Just enjoying it while it lasts TBH – should get a decent draw – and best of all I’m in North Wales biking Sat night when we play next!!

Last 5 or 10 mins of MOTD were funny- Shearer a bit of an angry bear!

Delighted with Wales, was dreading a horrible loss like when we played Russia in that playoff.

Priorities first. Well played Wales. Put Russia to the sword and sent them to the bottom of the group. Nice.

England, oh dear oh dear. The only redeeming feature of the game is we didn’t lose and I had a couple of pints of Cornish IPA

the thing with Lallana is he scoring or lack of it (0 from 27) doesn’t rate a place in the forward line, swap him with Rooney, his energy is probably better suited to a deeper lying role. Henderson has a terrible first touch and his dead ball delivery was woeful (I don’t think a tournament is the the place to find match sharpness) 🙄 .

Fair play and well done – we were in the town of Bale this weekend, you are top of the group on merit. 🙂

Now I understand where Bale was coming from when he said that an Englander wouldn’t get in the Welsh team.
We were a cohesive, well oiled machine and a pure joy to watch at times.
    Well done Wales.

England goalkeeper Joe Hart: “We have dominated every corner of the pitch and every Slovakian player will be proud of that result. We are into the next round and nobody will want to play us. I haven’t had anything to do in the whole tournament, to be honest. We have been playing very well as a team.”

Nobody will want to play us? What nonsense. Of course you want to play a team that can’t score and ship silly goals.

    theotherjonv

We are into the next round and nobody will want to play us on the basis that we can’t continue to be this ineffective and eventually we’ll have one decent game

    FTFY, Joe.

To me it seemed odd to make 6 changes.. it was an experiment that backfired, and there’s no reason to be experimenting at an actual tournament (unless you’re 5 up at half time) – that’s what friendlies are for. I can understand making 3 changes, as you can always rectify them with substitutions if it’s not working out – 6 is too many.

We’re toothless up front, and the CBs will be destroyed the moment they come across a decent pacy striker.

IMO (as a Spurs fan) we should be using similar tactics to what Spurs did this season – pressing with numbers high up the pitch and forcing the opp into mistakes – last night one or two players tried it, and then got frustrated because none of their teammates were helping out. A lot of the squad either currently play under Poch, or are ex-Southampton boys, or currently play a similar system for Liverpool, so it wouldn’t be hard to adapt.

We’re clearly not good enough to break down sides that park the bus, so need to alter our tactics to create opportunities.

Kyle Walker was the most missed player last night. England are simply not good enough to tiki-taka their way straight into the penalty area. The only way for us is with skill and pace on the wings.

Sadly not all our wingers have both those attributes.
