A plan to reuse wheels on a lockdown build is turning into a bit of a nightmare. I have a set of very lightly used Bontranger Duster Elite wheels, which had an XD Freehub. I bought a complete a SRAM Eagle NX Groupset from CRC which turns out has a Shimano compatible cassette – ok should have checked but thought SRAM would be SRAM XD!
I checked out my options trying to keep costs down and settled on a replacement freehub from Trek. Turns out this doesn’t come with the end nut to hold the freehub and the nut for the XD freehub won’t fit. Trek have suggested I purchase a set of replacement nuts which are listed as non drive side in their catalogue but appear to be both sides. Does anyone know if there are any generic nuts available that would work or I have to find a trek dealer to order this and hope it is correct.
