Hello Singletrack hive mind.  I’m looking to do an overnight adventure during Easter with my son (7y.o.).  Something simple like:

+ train from Edinburgh (under 2 hours).

+ cycle for a bit, ideally off road / very quiet road.  About 10-15 miles, depending on surface and climb.

+ stay at a pub / B&B, so that we don’t need to carry sleeping bags, tent, etc.

+ cycle on or back to a station, circa 10 – 15 miles, train home.

Any suggestions of routes or areas, please?

Dunblane, mainly off road cycle route around to Doune and on to Mentieth on braes back roads, then back to Stirling via Gargunnock and back roads.

Pitlochry, cycle to Rannoch or Bridge of Guar, back again in morning (South road) (my preferred)

    Crianlarich to Killin?

Matt’s Pitlochry suggestions a good one.

Train to Berwick and ride to Kirk Yetholm?  Bit further than you said, but rolling rather than big climbs?
