  • Downloading video/audio from BBC website

The usual youtube downloaders don’t seem to work – I’m talking about embedded videos rather than iplayer stuff. Specifically http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p03vvqvx – want to have an offline copy of the audio I can play on my phone, and also given the way my internet connection is at the moment could do with having the video offline. TBH if it was on iplayer it would be a lot more handy as I could then download that to watch offline (I’m not trying to rip the BBC off at all here)

you can record incoming audio using something like audacity – bit of a pain to set up but does work

get_iplayer will let you download it. https://squarepenguin.co.uk/

You can specify the PID for the programme to download it.
    eg get_iplayer –pid=p03vvqvx

The magic –pid argument to get _iplayer will let you download all sorts of things, including shows that may have fallen off iPlayer according to the web site. Just use –recursive-pid and follow links on bbc.co.uk/programmes to find the PID of the series.

Wonderful, thanks – found some trial versions of commercial software, but they didn’t even work properly with that (one only managed to download half of it). I much prefer open source anyway. Have now got my video.
