Having been a Guide Dog puppy walker for 7 dogs my wife has decided it was time for a dog of our own. Now as Guide Dog puppies come already named we never realised how difficult it would be to find a name that everybody in the family liked/agreed on. So some suggestions from the STW massive for a black Labrador may prove helpful.
My friends had a lovely mutt called Knobjockey at university. He used to come out on rides with us. Endless fun trying to find him in the woods as it got dark at night.
Been a few Black Labs in our family through the years, a quick list:
Garth
Kim
Dougie
Beth
Bramble
Garth was a huge Lab I mean a true monster of a dog his food was served in a washing up bowl as we couldn't get a dog bowl big enough. He was softy though and never showed aggression towards family members but was a great guard dog. Remember a door to door salesman coming around selling burglar alarms, my Dad told him if you can get in our house right now I'll buy one. He walked towards the door and bid a hasty retreat when Garth let off a bark like Digby.
Hmm just noticed the irony of me, a guy with a Dog's name commenting on a Dog's name thread …. it's my second name not my first so I'm not that traumatised by it!
Lucky you, my black lab is 12 and his name is Buddy, brilliant dogs, my new staffy pup is called Louie, had a huge list of names when we got him but Louie wasn't one of them! Spent 10 minutes with him when we got him home and it just poped on to my head, buddy was the same. Had thought of Nero, Cujo, Stan, a black lab here is called Hemp, I always quite liked it, let us all know your decision, good luck

Just call it 'the dog', it'll save hassle in the long run; 'go walk the dog', 'feed the dog' and when angry 'where's that bloody dog' or just resorting to shouting 'stupid dog' at it. You know it makes sense.
