Can’t find anyone that makes these surely a waterproof backpack is a no brainer! And I don’t want one with those stupid rain covers that don’t fit very well. Anyone know of any?

No. Use this inside, cost 5p

^ That doesn’t keep the pack dry though.

Gourdon with a bladder down the pad pocket works for me when i want to carry more than my mule will handle.

My alpkit gourdon has a compartment for a hydration pack. Never used it though as is just my commuter pack.

Why do you need to keep the pack dry? Surely even ‘tarpaulin’ material packs get wet & muddy on outside – the only difference is wetting out.

Use gear proof from Nikwax, protect what you need to inside in plastic bags.

Gourdon with bladder is the only sanely priced option not involving extra covers or liners I think.

I just use a hydrapak and use zip locks for anything that needs to stay dry though. Will be looking at Ospreys when I need a new pack ad I like the Axis I picked up for commuting very much…

Why do you need to keep the pack dry?

Because that is what the OP was asking. Not whether it is a good idea or not.

I use a cheap drybag from Wilkinsons inside my rucksacks

    as per Matt_OutandAbout

There’s that hugely expensive Acre one. Pretty sure Dakine have (had) something too.

Kriega – simply the best there is.

Unless you go for a rolltop drybag like the Alpkit Gourdon best option is to pack your stuff in multiple drybags inside a waterproof liner.

[*]Alpkit Gourdon, it is MTB specific, if you want it to be.

    Gourdon 20

Just take the elastic off, it gets stuck in trees.

    alpkit gourdon.

    simple and therefore brilliant.

fits nicer them my ‘proper’ evoc bag.

no internal compartments for the OCD part of my brain which took some coming to terms with but now i`m over it all is well.

when its really minging (which seems to be everytime i have time to ride atm) i find bag covers still allow the contents to get wet through the non waterproof bit on yer back.

    Acknowledged 🙂

    Plastic bag is perfect.

Genius all that – take a pack twice the price of a Gourdon and use a plastic bag to make it less waterproof than a Gourdon 🙂

Gourdons are ace – one of my favourite mtb products of all time.

They’re all waterproof. Otherwise they would let all the water out.

So, what bladder for a Gourdon, then?

Most Deuter rucksacks have a pull out cover for when the torrential rain starts…

My old crossair was great until I ripped it after 4 years of use.
