You're not on Warfarin are you ? ……. although I once had the most spectacular bruising on one of my legs (as the result of a 3 ton tractor falling on it) which had all the beautiful hues of a stunning tropical sunset, I haven't seen bruising like yours, other than on people taking Warfarin.

He's just told me how he did it.

Steep climb… stood up… top of the pedal stroke… front wheel hit something and washed out (night ride so he couldn't see what)… CRUNCH.

Jeeeez! Hope that heals up soon! I landed on the end of my bars today dirt jumping on my BMX….first thing I thought of was this! Luckily mine isn't as bad and hit my ribs!

P.s. While sitting by the side of the trail in the alps with a very recently broken collar bone, I saw someone else ditch it at the same place as me and receive the end of his handle bar in the face! Good job he had goggles on 😯

I'd be keeping an eye on that, it looks like it's swelling more – that can't be good? Internal bleeding? And I read something somewhere (lol, fat lot of good that is) that very large bruises can cause serious concern due to stressing your kidneys? Really does look sore, hope it improves rapidly!

I reckon it would have been a lot worse if you weren't so well padded, so your weight might have saved your life this time.

Can I just clear up a bit of confusion about how he did it though. Did he fall on a bar-end, i.e. the things that were immensely popular back in the day to help with climbing, or did he fall onto the end of his actual handlebars that had somehow turned upwards when his front wheel washed out?
