Are there any MTB groups around Derby/Derbyshire?  looking to get out a bit more, and would be nice to go as a group… Looking online there seem to be some, but all the info seems quite out of date so presumably have stopped?

Derwent Valley ATC are based out of Ripley i think, but they used to have a load of members in and around Derby when i was riding with them.

went on a few rides with DVATC, though this is a few years ago,  was good to see different areas.  …their site seems long gone so presumed they’d gone dark/disbanded?

I think Matlock Cycling Club still has an active MTB side. May be too far out of your area though.

Not sure what has happened to DVATC – I used to ride with them a lot but it’s been a good 7 or 8 years since I did (maybe more!).

They still have a facebook page and i occasionally see news of rides etc. Still in contact with mates from back then who ride in the area. Though, haven’t ridden with the club itself since 2000 or 2001!

Some of the other clubs in the area have MTBers as members, i’ve ridden with some from the Merc and South Pennine before now.

There are a few evening rides based around Ticknell etc, slightly more gravel than MTB, but varying degrees of friendliness/competitiveness.

If you PM me some details I can pass them on.

between notts and Derby – we’ve mostly be riding bridleways / canal paths as the weather has turned the more interesting stuff into slop. It’s all doable on a gravel bike so nothing that techie.

Ilkeston Cycle Club has a keen group of off roaders. Most local stuff is gravel-able but trips away to the Peak and trail centres. There’s a slight risk you might meet StuF or myself.

There’s a friendly informal group called Sparc – Shipley Park Area Riders Club, based around Shipley Park in the Ilkeston/Heanor area who also do away days as well as local pootles in the park – they are on FB and Strava I think

DVATC still have a regular Tuesday night ride, mainly starting around the Ambergate – Matlock area, not ridden with them much lately but I’m still in contact with them.
