    occasionally fainting when I wee

A known phenomenon. Micturation syncope in medspeak but no one really knows why it happens

and did mention dizzin when standing which I’ve had for years,

After a long bike ride I get this – I’ve gone to answer the door after getting off the sofa, opened the door and then thought – this is going to be awkward as I fell sideways against the wall and then slid down it. The chap at the door did look a bit worried….

I’ve done this pretty much all of my life, I think. I’m not sure it’s cycling related but then I’ve been a keen cyclist for 30 years and am getting old so can’t remember how often it happened pre-bike. My girls are fairly used to me clinging on to a wall for a few seconds every few days.

I had a blood check for low testosterone, having had several related symptoms. It came back clear a few days ago, but the GP wants a chat about my cholesterol levels. 🙁 Hopefully it will be that I need more cholesterol. 😀

Curiously, one of the very specific symptoms that I read linked to low testosterone was forgetting specific words for a short time, something that’s been happening to me fairly recently. No other memory problems other than that. Puzzling.

I often get light-headed when standing up. I have for many years  It seems pretty common and isn’t necessarily a sign of anything in particular. I’ve never experienced it when peeing though.

Yeah, I’m not concerned about the fainting when I wee. All my friends from where I grew up who are fit and healthy have done it at least once (although, oddly, no one I know from anywhere else has done it).

GP got back within 3 hours wanting me to book in for blood tests.

Well, 3 months down the line and the conclusions are limited.

    Blood pressure – normal (122/71)
    Blood tests – everything normal
    Diabetes – normal (HbA1c 29mmol/mol)

The doctor hasn’t actually seen me, or mentioned cycling in any of their responses. There’s been no mention of possible damage.

Recommendation at this stage is viagra but should I be asking if there’s any chance physical damage from cycling is the problem and if there’s something that can be undone?

Anyone got any experience of viagra in this situation? My sex life is sporadic enough that it sounds like it’s not going to be a convenient solution.

Its perfectly plausible that it is physical damage from cycling.  You need to discuss this with a doc.  do some research first

Luke, i had a problem for a few years when i was on beta blockers and warfarin. doctor told me this could have been a cause. i am still on a tablet called zemtard, which opens blood vessels up, kind of like mega viagra.

when i had the ED problem i had a subscription with Numan. used sildenafil which doctor dais was ok with my health issues.
if i need a sure thing, i still pop one. works every time.

All I can add is if you’re in your mid 40s, ask your doctor for a PSA test annually. Do it now, may save your life!

It’ll keep a track of your levels increasing and catch prostrate cancer earlier. I do it around valentines day as the relation tickes me and helps me remember.

No other advice than to look up Cialis (Tadalafil in generic form), known by some as the weekend pill.

Yeah, someone mentioned that earlier in the thread and it sounds like a better option.

I have mentioned cycling in every online consultation so far.

I’m only mid thirties so god knows what’ll be going on down there in a decade.

I had a cycling buddy who spent much of his teens riding bikes, including riding in casual clothes without padded shorts at a time when hard, narrow saddles were favoured. The long term consequence was severe scarring of tissue under his perineum which was rectified through a fairly uncomfortable procedure and recovery to remove the scar tissue in order to restore blood flow.
I’ve been riding seriously for 40+ years, fortunately the only times I suffered numbness was doing TTs on a fixed gear bike – riding the last 5 miles of a 25, I was numb from the waist down due to pulling myself onto the nose of the saddle 😳
Folks trying to emulate pro cyclists with deep saddle to bar drops and compensate by angling the saddle up can sometimes find themselves in trouble.

I have been riding since I was 10. 25 years of bashing about, but I’m curious why it’d only come on now. Surely there’d be some signs earlier?

I’m also lucky enough that proper body geometry saddles had just appeared when I started riding!
