***Sunday morning I cannot afford a Cascade type musings***

Don’t panic … I’m not looking to put a front mech on a new Solaris …😂

Way back in the dim and distant there was a modification you could do to a (dual pull?) front mech to fit the original Solaris to keep some mud clearance.

I did this mod when I had my original Solaris but cannot for the life of me remember what it required 😕

Can anyone help, my Google Fu is failing me .

If you take a dual pull down swing mech and cut off the downward pull part of the arm you get more clearance than before. Whatever the pull direction, down swing mechs have better clearance than top swings.

Another good bet for both clearance and shift performance is a side swing FD with the cable along the DT secured by M5 bottle mount clips.

Ok, didn’t quite nail ‘photos and words in the same post’ but see above. As jameso says you cut the bottom pull arm off the moving part of the mech- should just about be able to see the silver surface where i hacksawed it maybe 11 years ago now!
