Has anyone experience of converting the sun ringle inferno 25 rims to Tubeless. They are a 27.5 version with internal rim width of 20.3. I was hoping to convert them but have read a couple of older articles mentioning potential issues with certain types of tyres blowing off?

These are not tubeless compatible unless you happen to have a version that I have not seen. There is no ‘shelf’ on the rim for the tire bead to slide on to and be held in place.
From memory, we managed to set up a few tubeless in the shop but it was a huge pain in the butt and I’ve no idea why we even tried….
Maybe there are tubeless conversion kits / strips out there still that will work.

I had the Inferno 23s on my Fargo. Sealed them up with regular stan’s type tape and ran then tubeless with the stock wire bead race kings, vittoria peyotes, on-one/vee gravel racers, challenge gravel somethings. Less faff than some supposed TL tyre/rim combos I’ve tried.

Joe’s conversion kits still appear to be a thing. Been using these on my singlespeed for years with no problem

Thanks for your thoughts on this so far. I had heard that you could convert many non tubeless rims to run tubeless with taping and adding the valves however the rims not being hooked will make it a trickier process right? With less chance of success even or maybe more difficultly on achieving a good seal. I haven’t used any tubeless before and was considering it for my road bike also which does have Tubeless Ready rims but there is less gain to be had I think when running 25-28mm tyres?

The best way to convert something like that is Ghetto Tubeless GHETTO TUBELESS It’s Jared Graves approved and bombproof. All my bikes have been running it for years.
