When I can do a ride 96 miles and 12k feet, and still be smiling, I’ll be able to critique his music choice.

Even in the unlikely event that I found out that Froome had the coolest taste in music imaginable, I’d still think he was a boring, weird doper.

There must be some psychological advantage to be had listening to thon. Poor Nirvana.

That’s not how it works, shite is shite regardless of how you ride!

Utter shite except for Coolio. (And bedingfield:) )

it’s often the way with athletes though isn’t it, they don’t have time for anything else. Turn on radio 1 on the way to training …ooh I like that etc.

i remember Henrik Stenson the golfer saying his favourite song of all time was ‘hey brother’ , which had come out approx. 6 months before the interview.

To be fair, Buggles is one of the better tracks on there

I was surprised his average cadence was only 74 🙂

Mind you over 12000ft of climbing 🙂

+1 . Mainly b/c Carly Rae Jepsen is solid pop gold.

I’d assumed as a circular training ride that also means 12000ft of descending including a fair chunk of free wheeling, but went and looked at his trace (saddo!) and even in the second half which was mainly uphill his average was still down in the 70’s. Maybe a big gear day to build leg strength, maybe ‘just because’

Only 27 songs for 6+ hours? I’ve got over 50 in my biking playlist and normally ride for about 3 hours when solo.

Is it OK to ride with headphones in now? Not being contentious, I don’t like running or riding with headphones because I like to listen to whats going on around me (birdsong etc as well as being more aware of traffic), wondering if there is a best of both worlds option now with fancy pass through headphone tech.

It’s all chosen by sophisticated algorithm so that the bpm matches his exact cadence and heart rate, all mapped to the terrain.

…or he just has terrible taste.

I tend not to put favourites on mixtapes as repetition makes them boring, so I have “stuff I can have playing, but don’t necessarily want to pay attention too hard to” list that has pop songs, bits of rubbish, bits of good stuff…

I reckon some of those on there for cadence purposes…

I don’t usually like to judge other people’s music taste because we all like what we like… BUT

Wow this is like the most vanilla playlist I could possibly imagine. Like someone who has just discovered music and randomly chosen the most bog standard popular songs ever made and never ventured towards anything remotely different.

Who cares? No one has to apologise or justify their music tastes.

If you read my whole post you’d see that I’m not asking him to apologise or justify because we all like what we like.

I was just surprised that it’s not chosen by a soulless algorithm that’s all.

Same here, each to their own and all that but if this was an album it could easily be called

I’m a crumbling plodder now, but over a decade ago I trained hard to reach the giddy heights of, well, mediocrity 😉

Anyway the point being that the harder I worked, the simpler and cheesier my music choices became.

Like that thing in Good Omens, mixes would have originally been Welsh indie pop and Radiohead but, with buckets of training, would all mysteriously mutate into Best Of Queen…
