I don’t know how/why I’ve never managed to see Chinatown, but anyway – went to watch the re-mastered version at t’picture house, and, bludy hell, what a film. 😯

Superb script, Jack Nicholson on top form and a terrifyingly evil John Huston, all set in a City of Angels apparently at war with both itself and the very desert. Would make for an amazing triple bill if screened alongside Mulholland Drive and LA Confidential…

It is a great piece of cinema. Like you said, great performances, nailed down atmosphere and a great script. Didn’t realised they’d released a remastered version.

Surely the triple bill would have to include the sequel, The Two Jakes? Also a cracker… I have a framed poster of Chinatown on my studio wall, it’s one of my favourite film poster as well as one of my favourite films…
