Callibre Lost Lad £300 – Yay or Nay

I’m after a cheap beater to get to work. Haven’t ridden in a little while and sold all my bikes.

Was thinking I might get the Lost Lad as its on offer in **** off Outside. Was looking at much more expensive bikes but decided to go cheap for a year or two and then if I get the bug again then upgrade.

Its got very basic components but I won’t be be breaking any records with it. Possibly one ring above pootling and bimbleing.

Any feedback on the bike or is it total Pony?

Looks fine for £300 to me.

I’ve got similar spec on a Spesh Diverge E5. It works well enough and this Calibre is a lot cheaper. After a while I replaced the cable brakes (which admittedly work) with Juin Tech Hybrids for better feel.

It seems a good entry back in, it’s nothing wildly exciting but seems good value for the money.

If you get the bug and replace the bike, you can’t lose an awful lot on it either.

Can’t comment on this bike at all but for Calibre in general, I think they’re great and seem to have a better spec for the money than anyone else can manage (based on my old Two.Two mtb from 5+ years ago…)

For beginners or those on a budget it’s one of the first places I’d look.

Looks like a bargain commuter.

They’re £300 in store. Lad working there said they’re end of line. My local had a few units in every size.

My mate had one and couldn’t get the front shifting sorted. He took it back and was refunded as there was a batch with wonky frame alignment and they couldn’t sort it either. Something to check in the carpark before you head home with one.

Christ, you don’t get a lot of bike for £300 these days. Get it bought.

I’ve still got a Voodoo Marasa bought four years ago, was ~£300 back then, fine as a commuter/bimbler and turbo bike.

I’d definitely have one for £300. I’d have happily paid £450 for one so £300 sounds like an absolute bargain for a general purpose bike. If I’d not just bought a new racing kayak I’d have had one myself.
